Therapeutic Approach

The therapeutic relationship is a sacred one, built on trust & collaboration.

What’s happened to you matters.  What meaning you made of your experiences matters. And yet, You are more than the adversities you’ve faced, the trauma you’ve experienced and the coping mechanisms you’ve developed because of them. This is why I work to understand your life experiences and how those impact you now, through non-judgmental curiosity and conversation.  Simply put, I met you where you are, while treating you with dignity and respect, regardless of what you bring into therapy, including any shame you may harbor.

I approach therapy with inquiry to learn about who you are, where you came from, how you feel and the obstacles you have and continue to face, as you are the expert in your life.  My role is to understand these and help guide you through expansion, deepening and exploring into the places you’ve avoided in order to grow, heal and thrive beyond where you are right now and where you’ve been in the past. I do this by creating a safe and trusting space for and with you.  Feeling safe and secure within the therapeutic relationship is a fundamental element in order for you to explore the messy parts of your life, develop more self awareness and self compassion, in order to heal.

Because of my interdisciplinary education and training and life experiences, I developed a multidimensional perspective allowing me to see my clients as whole individuals. This means, I don’t see you as the problems and challenges, or even traumas and wounds you bring, I see you as a beautiful human, braving to heal. My therapeutic style is inclusive, person centered and trauma focused. And for client’s who are open to it, I often bring experiential and expressive arts, as well as, creativity into the therapeutic process.  I do this because I've witnessed the healing power these modalities have had in helping my clients get out of their heads and experience shifts by accessing internal wisdom within themselves.

One of the biggest areas I help support my clients with, regardless of the issue they bring into therapy, is to help them deepen their level of self acceptance as well as cultivate a deeper understanding of the narratives they have about their experiences and how those narratives impact their life. I work with my clients to see how by altering their narrative, they can gain new perspectives and find deeper levels of self compassion; not to mention show up differently in their relationships and life. Healing the relationship with ourselves, helps us heal other relationships in our lives.

Remember, you don’t have to go it alone. I would be honored to walk with you through your healing journey.  I look forward to connecting with and discovering how I can support you.

No one can save us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path.
